Lucy Almey Bird
Born in 1973, Lucy grew up in rural Somerset. She was always encouraged to draw and paint from an early age and was taken on regular trips to galleries and museums, which ignited her passion for art. Lucy is completely self-taught, having not taken the conventional route through education.
She paints mostly in acrylics on board and takes inspiration from everyday life - especially her three daughters. Domestic scenes feature regularly in her paintings, depicting a romanticised, gentler look at life. Lucy's work takes you away from a sometimes troublesome world into a world of floaty dresses, country walks and snuggling up with a good book.
Ever conscious of the need to reuse and recycle, she recently started to use good quality second hand frames and has found them an added source of inspiration. Their size, shape and style all influencing the painting they will eventually hold.
Her work is exhibited in galleries throughout the UK.
